Awarding ceremony of the fifth season participants of the Journal Club project at the Department of Molecular and Medical Genetics of TSMU

The Journal Club at the Department of Molecular and Medical Genetics of Tbilisi State Medical University has successfully completed the fifth season of the project, The TSMU students presented reports on vulnerable issues: 

“Non-cellular DNA blood test for colorectal cancer screening" (Ana Karchava, Gvantsa gvantseladze);

“GestaltMatcher facilitates the clinical diagnosis of rare diseases and facial dimorphism” (Ana Khmiadashvili, Mariam Kvantaliani);

“A pathogenic variant with a founder effect in COL4A3 causes Alport syndrome and TBMN: a case series” (Elene Otarashvili, Mariam Sirbiladze);

“Physical Activity and Incident Obesity Across the Spectrum of Genetic Risk for Obesity” (Irakli Zakroshvili, Ana Khmiadashvili).

The best report authors were named (Elene Otarashvili and Mariam Sirbiladze) and the project participants were awarded with certificates. 

The Journal Club activities include regular meetings of students and lecturers to discuss the latest articles published in leading scientific journals in the fields of molecular and medical genetics, genomics and translational medicine. 

The department has continuously carried out student educational and scientific activities related to genetics and genomics for over 30 years.
