A new educational project Case Report – From Writing to Publishing has been launched at Tbilisi State Medical University, initiated by the Ivane Tarkhnishvili Student Scientific Society. The primary aim of the project is to enhance the research and practical competencies of TSMU students in clinical case reporting and scientific writing.
The Case Report – From Writing to Publishing project will span several months and will be completed in a scientific conference during the first week of July 2025, where participants will present and describe clinical cases.
The project includes the following main stages:
• Trainings and Workshops – Participants will attend a series of trainings and workshops designed to teach the principles of clinical case description, structuring, and preparation for publication in scientific journals.
• Practical Component – Participants will work on real clinical cases under the supervision of scientific mentors selected by the organizing committee.
• Conference – At the conclusion of the project, participants will have the opportunity to present their case reports at a dedicated conference focused on clinical case description.
• Publication – Following the conference, the Ivane Tarkhnishvili Student Scientific Society will assist participants in publishing their works in both Georgian and international scientific journals.
The first workshop - Clinical Case Presentation, was led by Associate Professor Nona Janikashvili, Head of the International Projects Attraction and Promotion Division of TSMU.
“The workshop consisted of two main parts: (1) Clinical cases in research and (2) Structuring, presenting, writing, and publishing a clinical case.
Students received essential guidance on how to select, write, present, and publish an engaging clinical case, and how to formulate the key message, narrative, interpretation, and conclusions tailored to their target audience. They were also given an assignment in preparation for the next practical workshop, which will be held in the near future,” – stated Associate Professor Nona Janikashvili.
