New Horizons in TSMU’s cooperation with Italian universities under the framework of ACIG 2025

Tbilisi State Medical University continues to strengthen its long-standing and fruitful academic and scientific partnerships with leading higher education institutions in Italy. The university’s extensive collaborations and future development prospects were the focus of a presentation delivered by Mrs. Nino Kandelaki, ERASMUS+ coordinator of TSMU, during the Georgian-Italian Conference ACIG 2025.

The primary aim of the event was to deepen academic cooperation between higher education institutions of Georgia and Italy, promote exchange and educational programs, and generate new ideas related to the process of internationalization.

“The main focus of my presentation was to show outcomes of successful collaborations of TSMU with prominent Italian universities such as the Universities of Sassari, Pisa, Perugia, Pavia, Salerno, Catania, Molise, Milano-Bicocca, Sapienza University of Rome, Padua, L’Aquila, and Tuscia since 2015. I summarized past achievements and discussed the development of future cooperation,” stated Mrs. Nino Kandelaki.

The ACIG 2025 conference brought together representatives from 13 Italian and 14 Georgian universities. During the event, Nino Kandelaki held roundtable meetings with nearly all participating Italian university delegates.

“As a result of the meetings, we reached preliminary agreements on the establishment of inter-institutional and bilateral agreements, as well as memoranda of understanding. We also discussed opportunities for the mobility of students, residents, and academic staff within the framework of both existing and newly proposed agreements,” she added.

The ACIG 2025 conference was held on April 3–4 at Kutaisi International University with the involvement and support of the Embassy of Italy in Georgia.
