World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) Conference 2025 – “Towards health for all through quality medical Education” was organized in Bangkok, Thailand, from 25 to 28 May 2025. The event brought together 900 delegates from 85 countries, including nearly 30 participants from Georgia.
The conference programme included plenary sessions, symposia, workshops, oral and poster presentations that explored major contemporary issues in medical education - preparation of future physicians, the integration of artificial intelligence into medical training, global standards for accreditation and quality improvement, social accountability in medical education and other related topics.
The delegation of Tbilisi State Medical University, led by Professor Irakli Natroshvili, Rector of TSMU, took an active part in the conference. TSMU representatives held meetings with the President of the World Federation for Medical Education, Ricardo León Borjes, WFME Vice-President Geneviève Moineau and members of the WFME leadership team. Working meetings were also conducted with Harm Peters, President of the Association of Medical Schools in Europe (AMSE) and Anne Lloyd, Executive Director of AMEE. Discussions with international partners focused on future opportunities for collaboration in the field of medical education.
Within the framework of WFME 2025, Salome Voronovi, representative of TSMU and Head of the AMEE International Networking Centre in Georgia, was elected as moderator of the “Leadership” session. She presented three papers prepared by TSMU: “Updated Standards for Undergraduate Medical Education in Georgia”, “The AMEE Centre in Georgia – A Best Practice Model for Enhancing the Quality of Medical Education in the Region” and “Introducing Objective Structured Teaching Encounter (OSTE) for Academic Development in Georgia” at the conference.
