Seminar of the Georgian Scientific Reproducibility Network (GeoRN) at Tbilisi State Medical University

Tbilisi State Medical University hosted a seminar of the Georgian Scientific Reproducibility Network (GeoRN). The Scientific Reproducibility Network is part of the TIER2 project, funded by the European Union’s research and innovation framework programme Horizon Europe. Tbilisi State Medical University is one of the project’s winners, alongside Tbilisi State University and Caucasus International University.

TIER2 aims to promote the reproducibility of scientific research results both within the European Research Area (ERA) and in the global research and innovation (R&I) system. One of its core goals is to develop an evidence-based foundation on the scale and effectiveness of current reproducibility practices. The TIER2 consortium includes leading universities such as the University of Oxford (UK), Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Germany), Aarhus University (Denmark), the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands). The project marks the official launch of a national initiative aimed at promoting transparency, reliability, and international collaboration in scientific research in Georgia. With the establishment of GeoRN, Georgia is taking a significant step toward aligning its research system with international standards, strengthening academic institutions, and fostering more credible and impactful science. The network will support and encourage early-career researchers, provide training on reproducibility practices, and assist Georgian institutions in achieving greater success on the international stage.

During the meeting, the official website of GeoRN was also launched. The platform is expected to serve as a hub for resources, events, and community engagement. GeoRN will bring together researchers, academic staff, students, and policymakers who share a common goal of enhancing research quality and credibility in Georgia. The hybrid-format event was attended by approximately 150 participants.
