World Bank and “Innovation, Inclusion and Quality – Georgia I2Q (WB)” Project Representatives Visit TSMU

Representatives of the World Bank and the project “Innovation, Inclusion and Quality – Georgia I2Q (WB)” visited Tbilisi State Medical University. The project, implemented by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia and the Municipal Development Fund, with the support of the World Bank, aims to enhance access to early and preschool education, improve the quality of general and higher education, and advance the learning environment.

“We are grateful for your hospitality. It is important for us to observe how Tbilisi State Medical University is developing, to analyze existing challenges, and to identify priority areas for your institution,” — stated Mr. Luis Benveniste, World Bank Global Director for Education, during a meeting with the TSMU Rector and academic staff.

“Our goal is to continuously work on quality enhancement, as quality represents an ongoing process of development. This process yields results both in our interaction with students and in the training of future physicians. Medical education faces numerous challenges, and we are committed to responding to them effectively. The projects supported by the World Bank are of particular significance to our university,” — noted Professor Irakli Natroshvili, Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University.

The meeting, held at TSMU’s Administrative Building, was attended by representatives of the World Bank, the I2Q Project and TSMU academic staff.

The purpose of the visit was to monitor and evaluate the progress of the project and to exchange experiences. The parties discussed the challenges currently facing the university, the main directions for institutional development, and the planning of subsequent stages of the project.
