The presentation of the first joint project “Nursing Service at the TSMU University Mental Health Clinic” implemented within the framework of a two-year strategic partnership between Tbilisi State Medical University and the Nurses Association of Georgia was held at TSMU. The event was attended by representatives of the University Mental Health Clinic, members of the Nurses Association of Georgia, the project team and applicants who participated in the nurse selection process for the TSMU University Mental Health Clinic. The first cohort of applicant nurses was introduced to the project team and provided with comprehensive information regarding the project’s objectives and scope.
The project envisages the establishment of an innovative, three-tier (strategic, tactical, and operational) nursing governance structure, a Nursing Service at the TSMU University Mental Health Clinic. The model aims to introduce a modern, efficient management system aligned with international standards, thereby promoting professional development and enhancing the quality of healthcare services.
The principal objectives of the project include:
• Strengthening nursing education and research activities;
• Improving the quality of professional practice;
• Ensuring the effective implementation of regulatory reforms;
• Advancing patient-centered, safe, and internationally aligned nursing services in the field of mental health, particularly in psychiatry and narcology;
• Introducing Quality Practice Indicators (QPI) in mental health nursing practice;
• Implementing a progressive remuneration policy based on nursing QPI and KPI indicators.
Following the presentation, applicants underwent testing as the first stage of the nurse selection process. The nurse selection process consists of three stages: the first stage involves written testing; the second stage includes an interview; and the third stage provides specialized training according to specific clinical areas. This initiative will significantly contribute to the advancement of nursing practice in the field of mental health, the strengthening of professional standards, and the provision of high-quality, safe patient care.
