Viktoria Shonia, an invited lecturer at the Department of Pathological Anatomy of Tbilisi State Medical University and a young pathologist at the Teaching-Research and Diagnostic Laboratory of Pathology, has been announced as the winner of the international competition organized by the Vincent Academy of Pathology.
Within the framework of the project—implemented with the financial support of the host institution—Viktoria Shonia will undertake a three-month traineeship in Austria starting from 1 March 2026 at the Institute of Clinical and Molecular Pathology. This opportunity will enable her to deepen her expertise in the subspecialty of breast and gynecological pathology, further develop diagnostic capacities in this field and engage in international research projects.
The Institute of Clinical and Molecular Pathology at Ordensklinikum Linz – Elisabethinen Hospital (Linz, Austria) is one of Central Europe’s highly specialized pathology centers with a strong oncological focus. The Institute operates within a multidisciplinary university hospital complex uniting Elisabethinen Hospital and Barmherzige Schwestern Hospital, serving an extensive regional and national oncological and surgical network.

The Institute is headed by Farid Moinfar, MD, a leading specialist in clinical and molecular pathology internationally recognized for his expertise in breast and gynecological oncopathology, molecular diagnostics, and biomarker-driven personalized medicine. He also serves as Director of the Vincent Academy of Pathology, further strengthening the Institute’s educational and research profile in the international arena.
