The 23rd Student Educational–Scientific Conference took place on 26–27 February 2026 at Tbilisi State Medical University, organized by the Ivane Tarkhnishvili Student Scientific Society. Traditionally, the conference brought together not only TSMU students but also participants from other higher education institutions across Georgia.
The wide range of presentations clearly reflected the key priorities of contemporary medicine, encompassing clinical, molecular, technological, and interdisciplinary fields.
The student presentations addressed the following topics:
• Analysis of the association between cesarean section and symptoms of postpartum depression;
• Prospects for the application of gold nanoparticles produced using novel technologies in cancer cells;
• Clinical aspects and contemporary management approaches to postpartum hemorrhage;
• Modern methods in molecular epidemiology, including wastewater analysis for the assessment of population health;
• Dental stem cells as innovative and promising therapeutic agents;
• The role of artificial intelligence, telemedicine, and evidence-based practice in nursing;
• Clinical and morphological characteristics of clear cell odontogenic carcinoma;
• Morpho-structural changes of the musculoskeletal system in Hereditary Sensory and Autonomic Neuropathy Type IV (HSAN IV/CIPA);
• The historical transformation of medical science — “From the Renaissance to Robotics”;
• Contemporary technologies in burn treatment, including fish skin grafting techniques;
• Technical challenges in the implantation of cardiac electronic devices in cases of Persistent Left Superior Vena Cava (PLSVC);
• “Probiotics and Synbiotics as potential adjunctive therapies in type 2 Diabetes Mellitus”;
• “Artificial Intelligence-Derived Perivascular Fat Attenuation Index on Coronary CT Angiography in Predicting Coronary Inflammation and Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis”;
• “Liquid Gold: Mining Tears for Diabetic Retinopathy Biomarkers”;
• “Hyperglycemia to Hyperkinesia: A case report and review of Diabetic Striatopathy”;
• “Subclinical myocardial injury after non-cardiac surgery: a silent predictor of 30-day Mortalit";
• “Monozygotic Twins and the Theory of Epigenetic Asymmetry”;
• “Epidemiological Profile of Causative Agents in Nosocomial Pneumonia”;
• “Hyperlipidemia in Rotator Cuff Injury”.
The participants were awarded a bilingual (Georgian/English) certificate of participation, while attendees received certificates confirming their attendance. The conference was attended by both TSMU students and members of the University’s academic staff.
