The AMEE International Networking Centre organized an ESME (Essential Skills in Medical Education) course, “AI in Health Professions Education”, at Tbilisi State Medical University in an online format. The course was dedicated to the effective, responsible, and ethical application of artificial intelligence in health professions education. The training was facilitated by international field experts Ken Masters, Rakesh Patel, James Thomas, Michael Rowe, and Alison Starocki.

During the four-day programme, participants explored a broad range of topics related to the integration of AI into medical education. The course covered the architecture and capabilities of generative AI, principles of its responsible and ethical use, the integration of AI into teaching and the development of educational resources, contemporary approaches to assessment and feedback, simulation-based education, as well as emerging trends in artificial intelligence and their potential impact on the future of health professions education.

The training brought together 50 academic staff members representing medical schools across Georgia. Participants gained valuable international insights and practical expertise in the application of artificial intelligence to educational processes, strengthening their capacity to implement innovative AI-enhanced teaching and learning practices within their institutions.
