On February 15, 2021 Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to Georgia, his excellency Igor Dolgov and the First secretary, Ms. Tetiana Kovpak visited Tbilisi State Medical University. The guests were met by the TSMU Rector, Professor Zurab Vadachkoria, Vice Rectors Associate Professors Sophia Bakhtadze and Irakli Kokhreidze, Head of the International Relations Department, Assistant Professor, Tinatin Kilasonia and Head of the Rector’s Office, Irina Kapetivadze.
Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria presented a brief introduction about TSMU and talked about development of international relations and educational programs at the university. The Rector highlighted partnerships with the Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions and exchange programs between partner universities. He especially noted important role of six TSMU university clinics for the development of educational programs and teaching process at the medical university.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Ukraine, his excellency Igor Dolgov noted, that he had heard about achievements of Tbilisi State Medical University a lot and is glad that he had a chance to visit the university. “We all need a visit at the medical institutions and whenever I had visited, I met TSMU graduates, who are professional doctors. Reputation and image of alumni formulates image of any university. I was very glad when I saw various certificates at the dental clinics proving attended courses in Ukraine. This is a mutual relationship and I want it to develop. The Ukrainian part offers to elaborate a memorandum of cooperation in order to launch new exchange programs between TSMU and Odessa National Medical University (Ukraine). As soon as the restrictions due to COVID-19 are eased, representatives from the Odessa Medical University will visit TSMU and as for myself, I will be glad to host you in Odessa”.
The TSMU representatives noted that they appreciate offer and pay great attention to the collaboration opportunities with the Odessa Medical University.
