Georgia became a full member of the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA)

On March 5, 2018, on the General Assembly of the International Federation of Medical Student Associations (IFMSA) which was held in Egypt, it was decided to grant IFMSA full membership status to Georgia (for – 80, against - 0). IFMSA (the International Federation of Medical Students' Association) is recognized as a non-governmental organization within the United Nations’ system and the World Health Organization (WHO) that unifies more than a million medical students. Currently, IFMSA maintains 132 Member Organizations from more than 124 countries across the world. IFMSA has close collaboration with the United Nations (UN), the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) and so on. In 2014 Georgia became a candidate country of IFMSA, in 2016 – an associate member and in March 2018 - a full member of the organization, respectively. Main core of IFMSA-Georgia is represented by the students. Georgian delegation was headed by the XII Semester student of the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical University, Vice-President of IFMSA-Georgia - Nikoloz Gvazava. Among the other students in the delegation was the VIII semester student of TSMU Faculty of Medicine, IFMSA-Georgia SCORE- Director Nino Zivzivadze.
