Mikheil Chkhenkeli, Minister of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and Professor Zurab Vadachkoria, Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University, opened the Horizon Europe Funding office at Tbilisi State Medical University. The office aims to facilitate the successful participation of Georgian scientific society in the EU grant contests. 

Professor Zurab Vadachkoria thanked the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia for his support and highlighted that a number of important and successful projects have been implemented at the university with the support of the Minister. 

“The project has been implemented and developed with your active support and inclusion. We also hope for your effective support in our further initiatives and projects” said the TSMU Rector. The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia also spoke about the importance of the involvement of the Georgian scientific society in the Horizon Europe funding programme. “I am glad that the Horizon Europe funding office is opened at the medical university. Tbilisi State Medical University is the center of development of higher medical education and medical sciences in Georgia. Professional doctors brought up at the Tbilisi State Medical University faced the pandemic and saved lives. I would like to express my deepest respect and gratitude to the professional medical staff. Effective management of the coronavirus has been managed by the professors, doctors and medical students” said the Minister. 

Within the framework of the event the Director General of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia Jaba Samushia, TSMU Vice Rector Sophia Bakhtadze and Horizon Europe office coordinator Tamar Gvasalia addressed the audience and talked about the Horizon Europe funding programme.
