International Conference “Modern Approaches to Health Environmental Risk Management in Urban Zones (Systems)

On October 7-8, 2017, the Conference on “Modern Approaches to Health Environmental Risk Management in Urban Zones (Systems)"  organized by the Faculty of Public Health was held at Tbilisi State Medical University.

The conference was attended by international experts and leading specialists of the country in the field.  At the Conference the types of ecological risk factors characteristic for urban systems, pathogenesis of diseases associated with their impact, identification of health ecological threat sources in urban areas, health risk assessment and modern approaches for their prevention-minimization and optimal ways of their implementation in Georgia were discussed.

The conference was opened by Professor Zurab Vadachkoria Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University. The audience was addressed also by: Kakhaber Kuchava, the Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee of the Parliament of Georgia;  Zaza Khutsishvili, the First Deputy Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Prof. Itakli Mchedlishvili Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, Prof. Tamar Sanikidze Professor at TSMU  Department of Physics and Biophysics .

The second day of the conference was dedicated to the round table, in which participated: the representatives of education and health care system, municipality staff, health professional associations, scientific-academic spheres and the International experts.

The international experience in the field of health ecological risk management, its adaptation to the specificity of Georgia and further implementation have been discussed;  appropriate recommendations on the prevention of health risks associated with the urban environment and their detection in modern technologies and management were elaborated.
