On May 10, 2023 an event “Medicine in Space and Time” was organized at Tbilisi State Medical University. The event was dedicated to the 80th anniversary after the foundation of the History of Medicine Department and 60th anniversary after the Mikheil Shengelia Museum of History of Georgian Medicine establishment. 

The event was led by Professor Khatuna Todadze, Vice Rector of TSMU and Academician, Professor Ramaz Shengelia Head of the Department of History of Medicine and Bioethics. Professor Ramaz Shengelia presented a report on the long-term work of the Department of History of Medicine. The professor also talked about the Museum of History of Georgian Medicine, archeological artifacts, materials available in the era of Medea and Colchis - Iberian Medicine preserved in the museum. The academician also noted that a significant part of the exhibits kept in the funds have been obtained as a result of forty scientific expeditions arranged in all parts of Georgia. 

Associate Professor Marine Gurgenidze, Academic Doctor in Biology Nana Khalaia, Doctor of Medicine, Professor Ekaterine Sanikidze presented reports at the anniversary event. The event was also attended by the members of Parliament of Georgia, representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia, rectors of higher education institutions, TSMU administration and academic staff.
