TSMU Associate Professor Lasha Mskhiladze’s visit to Austria

On April 16-21, 2023 Assoc. Prof. Lasha Mskhiladze Acting Director of Tbilisi State Medical University I. Kutateladze Institute of Pharmacochemistry was invited in Vienna and Innsbruck by the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria. Within the framework of the visit Assoc. Prof. Lasha Mskhiladze attended the event: Austrian Leadership Programs – 15 (ALPS-15). The program aims to gather executives from various professions all over the world and represents Austria as a business location. 

Leaders in life sciences, educational/scientific activities, innovative projects from 20 countries: Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Georgia, Jamaica, Kosovo, Lebanon, Moldova, Montenegro, Pakistan, Senegal, Serbia, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, and the United States of America were selected to participate in ALPS-15, 2023 event.

“2023 ALPS participants were received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and given a better understanding of Austria as an economic, scientific and cultural center. The program participants introduced themselves and spoke about their professional achievements. Special attention was paid to the life science sector and digital technologies” – Assoc. Prof. Lasha Mskhiladze noted.

Assoc. Prof. Lasha Mskhiladze highlighted, he had the opportunity to be introduced to the scientific and economic potential of Austria and hold meetings in government agencies of the Republic of Austria. “Within the framework of the program, I visited the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria, the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, the Federation of Austrian Industries, Austrian Business Agency, the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Vienna, Vienna BioCenter - including the companies Valneva, the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, Med-EL, Werkstätte Wattens, Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Tyrol and United Nations Office at Vienna”.

The awarding ceremony of the successful leaders of 20 countries throughout the world was chaired by Thomas Oberreiter, Director-General for Europe and Economic Affairs at the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs. Ambassadors of the participant countries were also invited to the awarding ceremony of the event. 

“I want to express my gratitude to the Austrian Embassy in Georgia for presenting my candidacy to ALPS. I was also supported by the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria, the Embassy of Georgia to the Republic of Austria and TSMU administration. My visit to Austria was a brilliant manifestation of strengthening the internationalization activities between the countries” - Assoc. Prof. Lasha Mskhiladze said.
