TSMU students at the German University Clinics

Tbilisi State Medical University students Elene Mirianashvili and Saba Pruidze underwent three-months internship at the Charite Medical University (Berlin) within the framework of ERASMUS+ international credit mobility. The students improved their professional skills at the Departments of Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Genetics, Oncology, Pulmonology, Surgical Oncology, Cardiology and Transplantology at the Charite University Hospital.

“It was a brilliant opportunity and experience. I was involved in practical activities in the Departments of Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Genetics and Oncology. Accumulated experience at the hospital helped me to choose my future profession. Before I was not sure which direction to choose in order to continue my professional development. However, now I am pretty sure to develop my professional career in the field of Oncology. I would recommend students to improve their German language skills. It will help them in medical practice and adapting to a new environment” – said TSMU Medicine Faculty student Elene Mirianashvili.

"Charite University Hospital is well-known for professionals working in the field of medicine. I had a great desire to undergo an internship in the hospital and I am glad that I was given the opportunity. I was introduced to the new methods of treatment, and also developed communication skills with patients. It was an excellent experience for me. I had practical work at the Departments of Pulmonology, Surgical Oncology, Cardiology and Transplantology. I think practical experience obtained at the Charite University Hospital was strengthened with the theoretical knowledge I had acquired at Tbilisi State Medical University. I want to highlight that having experience in medical German language helped me to integrate and communicate with local students. There are German language courses at Tbilisi State Medical University and I would recommend it to the students of TSMU” – said TSMU Medicine Faculty student Saba Pruidze.

Nowadays the Otto von Guericke University of Magdeburg was added to the list of ERASMUS+ program. Two TSMU students Anna Chochua and Nino Vardosanidze are currently studying at the university. More than 20 students of Tbilisi State Medical University undergo clinical internships in the leading European university clinics within the framework of ERASMUS+ international credit mobility every year.
