TSMU students at the University of Magdeburg Clinic (Germany)

Within the framework of Erasmus+ project, TSMU Medicine Faculty students Ana Chachua and Nino Vardosanidze had two-months clinical internship in the departments of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (Germany) Clinic.

"One of the most interesting experiences was my internship in the department of general surgery including the vascular surgery unit. Later I moved to the therapy department.  I assisted doctors during visiting and communicating with patients every day. I also attended case discussions and listened to the field professionals’ opinions about diseases. I attended surgeries and assisted the surgeons during the operations. I worked in the Cath Lab every day and had the opportunity to assist surgeons in the lab. I want to highlight that if a student wants to undergo an internship in Germany it is highly important to know medical terminology.  Foreign Languages Center of Tbilisi State Medical University gives opportunity to students to learn languages well” said Ana Chachua student of the Faculty of Medicine of TSMU.

“Two-months internship at the University of Magdeburg Clinic involved working in the departments of gastroenterology, general surgery, nephrology, hematology and oncology. Under the supervision of the doctors I performed manipulations like kidney biopsy, bone marrow biopsy, a lumbar puncture and etc. I independently performed ultrasound examinations, electrocardiograms and discussed cases. I also assisted surgeons at the Department of Surgery. I was given the opportunity to obtain practical skills in two months. I even received a gift and a recommendation letter signed by the doctors for my active involvement in the clinical activities. I am so grateful to the Tbilisi State Medical University for the opportunity and experiences at the University of Magdeburg Clinic” said Nino Vardosanidze, student of the Faculty of Medicine of TSMU.
