თბილისის სახელმწიფო სამედიცინო უნივერსიტეტში თსსუ-ის ბავშვთა ადრეული განვითარების აკადემიის საბურთალოს ფილიალი გაიხსნა

The Early Childhood Development Academy (the Saburtalo branch) of Tbilisi State Medical University was opened

On March 26, 2024 the Early Childhood Development Academy (the Saburtalo branch) of Tbilisi State Medical University was opened. Professor Irakli Natroshvili, Rector of TSMU opened the ceremony and addressed the guests.

“The Early Childhood Development Academy of Tbilisi State Medical University is a significant project implemented by TSMU in collaboration with Emory University. The academy assists children and adolescents with various types of neurological, physical and development disorders and facilitates their integration in the society. The opening of a new branch promotes and streamlines service delivery to the population, making it crucial for every parent” said Professor Irakli Natroshvili.

Professor Archil Undilashvili, Director of Educational Programs of Emory School of Medicine also gave a speech.

“The Academy of Early Childhood Development of TSMU incorporates American and European standards in its services, ensuring adapted and secure environments for a highly qualified multidisciplinary team. The academy also serves as a significant base for relevant practices or academic work for the university students. I would like to express gratitude to Tbilisi State Medical University for their leadership in implementing this important project and for the support provided by the Emory University (USA)” said Professor Archil Undilashvili.

The event was attended by Professor Gordon Churchward, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, and Assistant Dean for Medical Education and Student Affairs of Emory University School of Medicine and Emeritus Joel Felner, Emory University School of Medicine. The event was also attended by Mrs. Tamar Zhghenti, Head of the International Relations and Strategic Development Department of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Mr. Alexandre Buachidze, Chancellor of TSMU, Professors Khatuna Todadze and Sophia Bakhtadze Vice Rectors of TSMU, Professor Zurab Orjonikidze and Mr. Mamuka Kalmakhelidze Vice Chancellors of TSMU, academic and administrative staff of TSMU. At the end of the ceremony Head of the academy, Nino Okrosashvili showed the guests simulation procedures – including trauma, speech and group therapies in the newly opened rehabilitation center. 

The multidisciplinary team of the Academy of Early Childhood Development at Tbilisi State Medical University, through close collaboration with parents, ensures accurate assessment of children's developmental milestones and provides the following types of services in a natural environment for children within the rehabilitation process:

Diagnosis of various types of developmental disorders

Consultation with child psychiatrists

Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2)

Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R)

Assessment of adaptive behavior using Vineland 2

Intelligence quotient assessment using the Wechsler Intelligence Scale

Evaluation of sensory integration

Assessment of speech development

School readiness assessment

Analytical consultation for behavioral issues
