On September 13-16, 2022 the 32nd annual EAIE conference and exhibition was organized in Barcelona (Spain). Professor Zurab Orjonikidze, TSMU Chancellor, Professor Archil Undilashvili, Department of Physical Rehabilitation Policy and Strategic Management and Salome Voronovi, Deputy Head of the Academic Development and Strategic Planning Department of the Tbilisi State Medical University participated in the conference. 

The European Association for International Education (EAIE) was founded in 1989. EAIE is the European centre for expertise, networking and resources in the internationalization of higher education. More than 6300 participants from over 90 countries joined the event. More than 200 institutions were presented at the exhibition in Barcelona.

The TSMU delegation attended sessions where current issues, strategies and visions of internationalization of higher education were discussed. EAIE President Michelle Stewart presented a newly elected President Piet Van Hove (2022-2024). 

TSMU delegation met Professor Luciano Sasso, President of UNICA and Deputy Rector of Sapienza University of Rome and Laura Brosico coordinator of UNICA office in Brussels. The Italian delegation introduced joining opportunities in AAHCI (Alliance of Academic Health Centers International) to TSMU representatives and expressed their interest to cooperate with the Tbilisi State Medical University. TSMU delegation met President Piet Van Hove also. Prospects for future cooperation and active involvement of TSMU in the 2023 conference (September 26-29, 2023 Rotterdam (Netherlands)) were discussed at the meeting.
