On May 3-5, 2023 Tbilisi State Medical University and Georgian Association of Allergology and ClinicalImmunology organized the International Congress of Immunologists. The event included several directions: XII Georgian National Congress of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, VIII European Congress on Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), II International Conference on coronavirus infectious disease (COVID-19), sessions of the World Allergy School.
Academician
Revaz Sepiashvili, the President of the Georgian
Association of Allergology and Clinical Immunology noted, latest
achievements in fundamental research in allergology and immunology, immunology
diseases management and accumulated experiences were discussed at the congress.
Professor Zurab Vadachkoria Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University noted
the congress is a brilliant manifestation of implementing international
standards in Georgia and expanding professional networks worldwide.
“World
leading speakers in allergology and immunology have visited the congress and
discussed contemporary issues in the field. I am proud that we are part of such
an outstanding and global event in Georgia. The congress is a brilliant
opportunity for young doctors to expand professional networks. The event will
definitely boost development of immunology and allergology in Georgia” – said
Professor Zurab Vadachkoria.
The
date of Tbilisi congress corresponded to the International Day of Immunology and World Asthma Week.
Tbilisi hosted world leading scientists with the support of Tbilisi State
Medical University.
The
co-chair of the congress was Professor Tinatin Chikovani, Head of the TSMU
Immunology Department and a member of the executive committee of the
International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS). Professor Tinatin
Chikovani highlighted that the conference was a unique opportunity for young
doctors to communicate with international scientists personally.
“The
forum is responding to important dates, The International Day of Immunology and World Asthma Week. The
goal of the forum is to raise awareness of medical society about the latest achievements
in immunology. Impact of the field advances on the healthcare system. Within
the framework of the forum important issues suggested to be implemented in
clinical practices were discussed. It is noteworthy that more than 700
participants were registered to attend the forum this year” – said Professor
Tinatin Chikovani.
The World
Allergy School was organized in Tbilisi for the second time. The school was led
by the trainers of the World Allergy Organization.
