Despite the immense progress achieved in combating this challenge reducing HIV infections, increasing access to treatment, and decreasing mortality these remain significant issues. World AIDS Week emphasizes the importance of engaging the international community, local organizations, and individuals in achieving change, which can be accomplished through raising awareness about HIV/AIDS,” noted Dr. Maia Tsintsadze.
World AIDS Day is an initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations General Assembly and is observed by over 160 countries, including Georgia.
During the event, attendees had the opportunity to take free rapid HIV tests.
Professor Davit Zarnadze, Dean of the Faculty of Public Health noted, the faculty will continue supporting the commemoration of WHO-designated dates by organizing various educational and engaging activities.
The event was organized by TSMU's Department of Public Health Management, Policy, and Economics, with the active involvement of the Ivane Tarkhnishvili Student Scientific Society.
