Tbilisi State Medical University hosts the International Festival of Tbilisi Amateur Student’s Theaters “Mask 2022”


Tbilisi State Medical University hosts the International Festival of Tbilisi Amateur Student’s Theaters “Mask 2022”. The festival started on December 2 at Tbilisi State Medical University Theater Hall. Professor Zurab Vadachkoria Rector of TSMU thanked the audience for visiting the festival, the jury for supporting and wished the participant universities success. 

“The medical university has been hosting the festival for the ninth time. The TSMU Theater Hall is always ready to welcome the students of participant universities. We do not compete with each other and if we have ever competed only in the love of theater” said the rector of TSMU.  

Professor David Gurgenidze, Rector of Georgian Technical University, talked about the important role of organizing student events.

On December 2, the festival was opened by a premiere of TSMU Theater Hygia, “Old Tbilisi Melodies”.  Within the framework of the festival Georgian Technical University, Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA), Georgian National University (SEU) and Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) student theater troupes performed plays. 

On December 6 Ukrainian stage director Natasha Yakimchenko held masterclasses on stage improvisation. On December 7, choreographer David Chanishvili conducted master classes on stage movement. 

On December 8, Akaki Tsereteli State University performs a play “Sorry but I am alive”.

On December 9, Mkhitar Heratsi Yerevan State Medical University performs a play “No Exit”

On December 10, the International Festival of Tbilisi Amateur Student’s Theaters “Mask 2022” winners awarding and closing ceremony will be organized. 

The festival jury members are: chairperson Eka Mzhavanadze, actors and actresses Tamuna Nikoladze, Giorgi Jikia, Eka Molodinashvili, Malkhaz Kvrivishvili, Zuka Papuashvili, Ia Sukhitashvili, director Tsitsi Kobiashvili.
