Visit of TSMU delegation at the University of Catania

On September 11-16, 2023 within the framework of project SAFEMED+ the delegation of Tbilisi State Medical University Professor Khatuna Todadze Rector of TSMU and Head of the Department of Narcology, Professor Tinatin Chikovani Head of Immunology Department and Department of Education Management, Assessment and Students Registration, Assoc. Prof. Dali Chitaishvili Department of Clinical Skills and Multidisciplinary Simulation and Assoc. Prof. Irina Kapetivadze Head of Rector’s Office visited the University of Catania (Italy).  The delegation participated in the training “Simulation in Undergraduate Medical Education for Improvement of Safety and Quality of Patient Care ''. Tbilisi State Medical University is one of the coordinators of the project.

The participants of the training met Professor Francesco Priolo, Rector of University of Catania, deputy rectors for educational and scientific issues and representatives of the administration of the University of Catania. Delegations from various universities took part in the meeting including representatives of the TSMU partner universities: Ternopil National Medical University, Bukovinian State Medical University, Yerevan State Medical University.

Professor Ferdinando Nicoletti Honorary Doctor of TSMU and Head of General Pathology and Immunology Department of University of Catania also attended the meeting. Professor Ferdinando Nicoletti is the author of a number of scientific projects with TSMU and international patent for Plaferon LB owner.

The cycle of training was held in the Departments of Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of the San Marco University Hospital of the University of Catania.

The TSMU delegation also met Professor Lucia Zappala, Deputy Rector for International Relations of the University of Catania. The parties discussed exchange programs for students and academic staff within the framework of ERASMUS+ and KA ICM 171 international credit mobility programs. The parties also discussed joint application submission issues, development of collaborative research projects, organization of seminars, workshops and conferences for sharing experiences.
