TSMU Mikhail Shengelia Museum of Georgian Medicine History Hosted Student Conference

On December 21, 2019 TSMU Mikhail Shengelia Museum of Georgian Medicine History Hosted Student Conference - "Folk Medicine - Treasure of Georgian Culture". The aim of the conference was to gather and present ethnographic and folklore materials proving the rich medical traditions of Georgia. The authors of the topics visited regions they had chosen, investigated traditional medical treatment methods and presented at the conference. The conference participants were from various regions of Georgia and their wok was evaluated by the jury: Academician Ramaz Shengelia, Director of the Museum, TSMU Assoc. Prof. Giorgi Tchitchinadze, Invited Lecturer Nani Khelaia, Scientists from the Georgian National Center of Manuscripts Irina Gogonaia, Liana Samkurashvili, Lela shatirishvili and David Tchitanava and the founders of Pharmaceutical Company “Mana” Dr Manana Esiashvili and Medea Sikharulidze. The participants were awarded with the certificates and prizes. 

Academician Ramaz Shengelia, Director of the Museum noted: “The goal of the conference was on the one hand to intensify the interest to the culture and especially the history of medicine and ethno medicine of new generation and on the other hand the museum received a unique material and information about the field”.
