Brochure 'Parents Guide After the Diagnosis' translated into Georgian by the Department of Molecular and Medical Genetics, TSMU

From 2021 Georgia joined a rare diseases organization “Global Cmtc-Ovm Organisation”, a worldwide non-profit patient organization that aims to improve the quality of life of people suffering from vascular abnormalities, such as CMTC and other vascular malformations and stimulate scientific research into these disorders.

For this reason, the head of the Department of Molecular and Medical Genetics at Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU), Prof. Tinatin Tkemaladze initiated translation of the brochure ‘Parents Guide After the Diagnosis’, which discusses many social, psychological and medical issues that parents of rare disease patients encounter. Translators’ group also includes Emerit. Prof. Elene Abzianidze, TSMU students Nino Khabazi and Data Kekutia, and the founder of Georgian Dravet Syndrome association and the parent of a Dravet syndrome child Nato Natsvlishvili.

The project was supported by Tbilisi State Medical University and Georgian Society of Medical Genetics and Epigenetics.

The book is intended for a wide range of readers and will be of great help to many families with different rare diseases.
