On August 29-30, 2024, Professor Lela Maskhulia, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of Tbilisi State Medical University attended the Global Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation Forum. The forum was organized in London (United Kingdom) and attended by 52 leading experts from 20 countries, specializing in the prevention and rehabilitation of cardiovascular diseases.

Within the framework of the forum, discussions and working meetings in small groups were held aiming to strengthen global unity, identify gaps in secondary prevention and cardiac rehabilitation, and develop effective strategies to address these issues. 

Professor Lela Maskhulia presented research conducted in Georgia on cardiac rehabilitation and prevention. The issue sparked significant interest among the forum participants and the colleagues expressed a desire to offer support for future collaboration. 

During the Global Forum, the need for consolidating the efforts of leading organizations in the field was emphasized. This initiative aims to improve the accessibility of cardiac rehabilitation and prevention, enhance patient outcomes, and secure the necessary financial resources. Following this, an initiative was developed through the Global Forum on the Prevention and Rehabilitation of Cardiovascular Diseases to mobilize and unite stakeholders at both national and international levels, an effort to which Tbilisi State Medical University also joined.
