TSMU representative at the University of Catania

On April 20-23, 2022 Professor Irma Manjavidze, Director of the TSMU Clinical Skills and Multidisciplinary Simulation Center and Associated Professor Ia Avaliani, TSMU Department of Internal Medicine, Propaedeutics visited the University of Catania (Italy). The TSMU representatives attended training on planning and conducting OSCE. 

Tbilisi State Medical University is a partner university of the ERASMUS + Project “Simulation in Undergraduate Medical Education for Improvement of Safety and Quality of Patient Care”. Within the framework of the event professors and experts from the partner universities of the consortia presented reports. The training was dedicated to the discussion of components necessary for the implementation of the OSCE, development of OSCE scenarios and identification test stations with the assessment criteria.  

The workshop was dedicated to communicating with a standardized patient, protecting patients’ rights and confidentiality, informing the patient about further examinations and surgical interventions.

One of the most important parts of the event was a group work of the participant countries of the consortia. The presentations of the representatives of Ukraine, Armenia and Georgia were discussed at the event.

Within the framework of the visit, TSMU representatives visited the Department of Biomedical and Biotechnological Sciences (Biometec) of the University of Catania including a simulation center for anesthesiology resuscitation and teaching areas for independent work for students. 

The representatives of the Tbilisi State Medical University and the University of Catania planned future activities for strengthening the simulation teaching at universities.
