In January 2022, the World Health Organization (WHO) launched the 150th session of the International Global Action Plan for Epilepsy and other Neurological Disorders (IGAP). The action plan aims to ensure the availability of diagnosis and services related to epilepsy and other neurological disorders worldwide.

On May 27, 2022, the 75th World Health Assembly (WHA) endorsed the International Global Action Plan. In line with its implementation, WHO established the organization OneNeurology and Professor Sophia Bakhtadze, Vice-Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University and the Head of the Department of Pediatric Neurology became a member of the organization.

Within the framework of the Global Action Plan a document was created outlining issues related to increasing awareness of brain health as the priority area of health care. The document, co-authored by Professor Sophia Bakhtadze was published in the journal „Lancet Global Health” (impact factor - 34.2). The document as an essential part of the action plan has been disseminated to various diplomatic missions and WHO regional offices. A special article „No health without brain health” emphasizing the importance of brain health from a public health perspective was dedicated to the issue by the main editor of the journal.
