The Conference

On December 3, Georgia celebrates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. UNDP held a conference "See, Hear, Take a step” in Tbilisi. The conference was attended by the partner organizations of the "Physical Rehabilitation Project in Georgia": Tbilisi State Medical University, Coalition for Independent Living, Corporation `Partners for International Development’ (PFID) and MAC Georgia. Representatives of the "Physical Rehabilitation Project in Georgia" provided the audience with information about rehabilitation services in relation with UNCRPD and their importance for persons with disabilities. 

Since September 2017, Emory University, in collaboration with Tbilisi State Medical University, Partners for International Development, Inc. and the Coalition for Independent Living, is implementing an USAID project for “Strengthening Physical Rehabilitation in Georgia”.

Project objectives are: to strengthen the capacity of existing and emerging physical rehabilitation professionals; to expand access to high quality, affordable physical rehabilitation services and to expand access to and availability of appropriate assistive technology and related services. Physical Therapists and rehabilitation specialists from Emory University are based in Georgia to assist with these programs in order to achieve the ultimate goal of inclusion of persons with disabilities in the country. "The U.S. Agency for International Development administers the U.S. foreign assistance program providing economic and humanitarian assistance in more than 80 countries worldwide."
