Visit of Japanese delegation at Tbilisi State Medical University

On February 10, 2023 Tbilisi State Medical University was visited by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Georgia, His Excellency, Mr. Imamura Akira, Attaché at Embassy of Japan in Georgia Mr. Ryosei Suginaka, Professor Kazuya Yamauchi, Director of the National Research Institute for Cultural Properties of Teikyo University (Japan) and Assistant Professor Makino Mariko.

The guests were met by Professor Zurab Vadachkortia Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University, Professor Sophia Bakhtadze Vice Rector of TSMU, Professor Archil Undilashvili Director of Educational Programs at the Emory University School of Medicine and Nino Aptsiauri Deputy Head of TSMU International Relations Department. 

Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria delivered a welcoming speech at the meeting. Prof. Sophia Bakhtadze presented detailed information about the history and achievements of the medical university. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Georgia, His Excellency, Mr. Imamura Akira noted that he has information about one of the most important medical universities in Georgian and the region. The ambassador highlighted that he had himself tested the professionalism of Georgian doctors.

“Rector of Teikyo University has a desire to establish partnership with Tbilisi State Medical University. This visit serves to demonstrate the desire” – said Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Georgia, His Excellency, Mr. Imamura Akira.

Professor Kazuya Yamauchi, Director of the National Research Institute for Cultural Properties of Teikyo University talked about Teikyo University and asserted desire to establish cooperation with TSMU. “We are eager to establish an open window principle partnership. The partnership which will be mutually beneficial” - Professor Kazuya Yamauchi noted.

At the end of the meeting Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria presented a memorable gift to Mr. Imamura Akira and all the TSMU guests. On the other hand, the TSMU rector also received a memorable gift from the Japanese guests.
