On July 1, 2023 Georgian Young Dentists League supported by the Georgian Dental Association organized a conference “Successful dentistry - the path from mistakes and complications to the effect” in Mtskheta “Shughuli”. The Georgian Young Dentists League was established by the students of Tbilisi State Medical University.

Professor Marina Mamaladze Head of the TSMU Odontology Department and President of the Georgian Dental Association was the keynote speaker of the conference. Professor’s three-hour presentation “Common mistakes, negligence and complications in dentistry” evoked discussions and controversial opinions among the audience. The summary of the discussion was based on ten years’ clinical outcomes.

The conference sessions were dedicated to the key aspects in orthodontics, endodontics, maxillofacial surgery, periodontology, implantology and orthopedic dentistry. Dr. Avtandil Bakradze, invited teacher at the Department of Orthodontics of TSMU, a member of the Georgian Dental Association presented a report about innovative diagnostic approaches and outcomes resulted neglecting them. Dr. Giorgi Gvenetadze, invited teacher at the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery of TSMU and a member of the Georgian Dental Association presented a report highlighting mutual responsibility of doctor and patient in order to avoid complications in dentistry. Report presented and discussed by Dr. Maia Lomsianidze, member of the Georgian Dental Association was interesting and interactive. Professor Vladimer Margvelashvili, Dr. Lali Kochiashvli and Doctor of Dental Medicine Nutsa Zurabiani discussed field vulnerable issues during their presentations.

The conference was attended by TSMU academic staff and invited teachers: Professor Tinatin Mikadze, Head of the Orthodontic Department, Assoc. Prof. Lia Sanodze Head of the Orthodontic Department and Director of Apolon Urushadze Dental Clinic, Johnny Potskhverashvili Vice Director of Apolon Urushadze Dental Clinic and member of the Georgian Dental Association, Assistant Professor Nato Mosemgvdlishvili Department of Odontology of TSMU, Nini Svanishvili member of the Georgian Dental Association, TSMU students and the members of the Georgian Dental Association.
