On January 11, 2024 Tbilisi State Medical University hosted a book presentation "Psychiatry and Psychiatrists" by Professor Manana Bokuchava, invited teacher of TSMU. The event was attended by Professor Khatuna Todadze, Vice Rector of TSMU, Professor Teimuraz Silagadze Head of the Department of Psychiatry, Assoc. Prof. Eka Chkonia and leading psychiatrists: Professor Giorgi Naneishvili, TSU Professor Nino Okribelashvili, TSU Assoc. Prof. David Zurabashvili, practical psychiatrists and residents of the Department of Psychiatry of TSMU. 

The event was opened by Professor Teimuraz Silagadze. He discussed the essential role of psychiatry in medicine. Besides field knowledge, professionals working in this direction should have broad understanding of human nature, including religious feelings, passion for art and diverse professions. Professor Manana Bokuchava is the professional with her significant achievements in scientific, pedagogical and academic activities. 

Professor Khatuna Todadze also highlighted the role of a newly published book for the development of psychiatry in Georgia. Professor also mentioned that TSMU leadership has launched construction of a new Clinic of Psychiatry and Narcology. The clinic will be equipped with innovative infrastructure and both departments will be relocated in the building. 

Professors Giorgi Naneishvili, Nino Okribelashvili and David Zurabashvili also talked about professional achievements of Professor Manana Bokuchava. The book presentation was also attended by Evgenia (Makharadze) and Archimandrite Mikael (Ejibishvili), abbots of the convent of Saints Enoch and Ilia of Jerusalem. They emphasized the importance of new approaches in mental health problem treatment.

A documentary film by Levan Shengelia, a psychiatrist who died at a very young age was shown at the end of the event. The film was dedicated to the hard life of patients with psychiatric problems.
