7 billion euros funding has been planned to be invested in the development of innovative healthcare projects initiated by the President Emanuel Macron. The approved thousand projects have been focused on the early diagnosis of cancer, range of risk factors and prevention. Two of them have been initiated by the Tbilisi State Medical University Oncology Department Assoc. Prof. Alexander Tavartkiladze. 

The first project “Transplantation of Activated T Cells and Stem Cells during the Chemotherapy and Immunoresistance of Solid Tumors” involves use of cellular immunotherapy in the treatment of solid tumors. 

The second project “Application of Intravenous Bacteriophage therapy in Bacterial Sepsis Associated with Cancer” involves the treatment of tumor-associated sepsis with bacteriophages.

"The studies, especially in the field of bacteriophages, show new ways in the development of innovative pharmaceutical technologies, which we think will be of a great practical importance for our country. The discussed projects will play a crucial role for the TSMU students to be involved in various scientific researches either, which undoubtedly is very important issue for the university” said the Associate Professor.

The projects were implemented within the framework of Georgian-French cooperation between the Institute of Personalized Medicine (Georgia) and the Gustave Roussy Cancer Research Institute (France) and are accepted by the French Organization for the Development of Medical Sciences.
