საქართველოს განათლებისა და მეცნიერების მინისტრმა გიორგი ამილახვარმა თბილისის სახელმწიფო სამედიცინო უნივერსიტეტის ახლად რეაბილიტირებული, ისტორიული კორპუსი გახსნა

Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Giorgi Amilakhvari opened rehabilitated historical campus of Tbilisi State Medical University

Tbilisi State Medical University's historical 2nd campus was rehabilitated and opened by Giorgi Amilakhvari, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia. Mr. Giorgi Amilakhvari was accompanied by Nodar Papukashvili, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia. The guests wished the students and academic staff of TSMU a successful academic year. The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia noted updated infrastructure and advanced technologies are especially essential in the development of high quality medical education in Georgia. 

"We have visited the fully rehabilitated and renovated historical building of Tbilisi State Medical University. The university is equipped with the latest laboratories, lecture rooms and facilities paramount for receiving modern medical education. Tbilisi State Medical University is the leading university not only in Georgia but throughout the region. We have always supported the development of higher education in Georgia and definitely will keep on strengthening similar projects. I would like to wish the university administration, professors and especially students, a successful academic year in a modernized academic environment corresponding to contemporary standards", said the minister.

Within the framework of the visit, the minister visited the ancient building of TSMU. The campus rehabilitation and modernization was completed in September 2023. The minister was interested in American MD program details. The program was elaborated and implemented in collaboration with the Emory University (Atlanta, USA) in 2013. Mr. Giorgi Amilakhvari attended practical activities within the framework of the US MD program “Become a Doctor”. The activities covered respiratory examination and surgical suture involving simulated patients.

Minister of Education and Science of Georgia visited the Museum of Life Sciences, Research Center of Human Genome and Epigenome and Clinical Skills and Multidisciplinary Simulation Center. 

A new canteen was opened in the 1st campus of TSMU the same day. The café is designed to load nearly 160 people simultaneously.

The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia was hosted by Professor Zurab Vadachkoria, Rector of TSMU, Professor Zurab Orjonikidze Chancellor of TSMU, vice rectors and academic staff of the medical university.

"We are honored to host the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mr. Giorgi Amilakhvari. The minister has visited the oldest and recently renovated campus of TSMU. I am glad to inform you that we also managed to reconstruct the historical lecture rooms of the 2nd campus of Tbilisi State Medical University " said Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria.
