21st Students' Teaching Scientific Talks - STST 2023

On May 29, 2023, students' teaching scientific conference "21st Students' Teaching Scientific Talks [STST 2023]" was organized at Tbilisi State Medical University. The conference aims to develop professional skills among medical university students and increase their involvement in scientific activities. The participants presented their presentations in English language. The works were evaluated by jury members according to the following criteria:

1. Actuality of the topic/issue/problem presented in the report/presentation;

2. Presentation skills

3. Structural fluency of the presentation

4. Engagement in discussion.

The jury members were: 

1. Maka Mantskava - Associate Professor of the Department of Physics, Biophysics, Biomechanics and Information Technologies of TSMU; President of the Rheological Society in Georgia; Doctor of Biological Sciences; Representative of the Ivane Beritashvili Center of Experimental Biomedicine in the direction of Rheology; Head of the Georgian Section of the European Society for Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation.

2. Mariam Abisonashvili - Therapist;

3. Ana Bochorishvili - invited teacher at the Department of Nutrition, Aging Medicine, Environmental and Occupational Health of TSMU, nutritionist. 

The authors of three best reports were identified:

1. Tamar Zurabashvili – “Liver Injury in Covid-19” (10th semester student of the Faculty of Medicine)

2. Elene Alpaidze – “Lyme Disease” (4th semester student of the Faculty of Medicine)

3. Muhamaad Saad Ullah Khan -”The  Zombie Fungus” (2nd semester student of the International Faculty of Medicine and Stomatology)

The first two winners were selected by the jury members of the conference and the third winner was identified as the result of an anonymous survey.
