On December 14, 2017, the 90th Anniversary of the famous Georgian pediatrician, Professor Givi Zhvania was celebrated at Tbilisi State Medical University. The event was attended by Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria, Rector of Tbilisi State  Medical University, Administration staff, family members, friends and colleagues of Prof. Givi Zhvania. The evening was lead by Mr. Joni Janashia graduate of Tbilisi State Medical University, Director of Tbilisi's Children Infectional Clinical Hospital, who reminded the audience biographical data of  Prof.  Givi Zhvania. Mr. Joni Janashia spoke about an excellent doctor of the little patients: “The inner nature of man is reflected on his face, smile. Look at this face, how much warmth and love we see in these big eyes. He was an amazing defender of little patients, young people, his faculty, students. During the surgery, his fingers were as if the virtuoso was playing the piano.   We can speak about him endlessly.” The audience was addressed by Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria, Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University: "Professor Givi Zhvania was very young when entered the world of children's surgery as a big and fairy-tale hero. In this world he lived for almost 50 years. During this time Mr. Givi Zhvania managed to develop the field of children surgery in the country. For 18 years he was the Dean of the Faculty of Pediatrics of Tbilisi State Medical University.  He is the author of many scientific works. At the same time, he was a good organizer and on his initiative, TSMU pediatric academic clinic, today named after him, was established. This clinic is one of the strongest pediatric clinics today and is well known not only in Georgia but also abroad". Very warm speech was delivered by Prof. Lia Dzidziguri, Associate Professor of the Givi Zhvania Pediatric Academic Clinic of TSMU: "I had a long relationship with Mr. Givi Zhvania. I worked with him at the operating table for 10 years. One meeting with him was enough to feel his specialty. Lots of good news can be recalled about him as a doctor, pediatrician and organizer. I suppose it will not be disputable that it is impossible to be a good doctor and a good teacher if you are not a good person. He suffered every little patient's pain. He could say: every patient's pain is pain in my soul. I am happy and celebrate when the fight for life ends with victory ". Prof. Givi Zhvania the great doctor of small patients – was recalled by colleague-professors: Merab Buadze, Ramaz Kutubidze, Nugzar Uberi, Gogi Chakhunashvili. At the end of the evening, Mr. Givi Zhvania's son - Temur Zhvania, who is working at the Tbilisi State Medical University Givi Zhvania Pediatric Academic Clinic, expressed his thankfulness to the leadership of Tbilisi State Medical University and the audience for the memory and appreciation of his father's personality.
