May 5 is World Hand Hygiene Day initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO). The campaign aims to bring people together in support of hand hygiene improvement worldwide.

The Department of Public Health Management, Policy and Economics of Tbilisi State Medical University organized the event: "Act quickly, save lives - clean your hands!" The 2nd semester students of the Faculty of Public Health: Giorgi Gegechkori, Sergo Kekenadze, Gvantsa Usanetashvili, Oto Saneblidze, Nino Jikia, Mariam Bregvadze, Natia Intskirveli, Nana Beshidze, Lizi Lezhava, Sofo Jincharadze, Mariam Demuria, Giorgi Sekhnianidze, Dea Ninua, Tako Gambashidze, Mariam Pruidze presented reports at the event. A quiz game and discussion about hand hygiene was conducted after the event. The participants were awarded with the gifts. 

The event was a manifestation that communities and healthcare organizations together can achieve common goals - on preventing infections and antimicrobial resistance in health care.
