The traditional music girls Ensemble “Deka” at the TSMU Culture Center

In October 2011, at the initiative of  Mr. David Ratiani, the head of the folk instruments group of the Folk Instruments of the Song and Dance National Ensemble at the TSMU Sport and Art Center, the traditional music Ensemble "Deka" was established at the TSMU Sport and Art Center.

The ensemble is made up of girls who are very fond of folk songs, music and folk instruments.

The ensemble "Deka" performed for the first time on November 21, 2011 in the Assembly Hall of  TSMU. The girls' performance was well received by the audience.

The ensemble's repertoire was further embellished by folk songs performed with folk instruments.

The diligence of the girls and the leader has paid off and the ensemble "Deka" is often invited to concerts at TSMU, as well as to participate in various events in our capital: Artgen Festival, Vazha-Pshavela Jubilee Evening, Radio I, Kutaisi Opera and Ballet at the theater, on student days, at charitable events planned by the Patriarchate.

The members of the ensemble, the students of TSMU, the leadership of TSMU bought unique props and costumes that will further decorate the ensemble's performances in the future.

Tamar Ratiani, a laureate of national and international festivals and a member of the ensemble "Kelaptari", also worked as a teacher in the ensemble.

Currently, the ensemble is led by David Ratiani, a member of the Folk Song and Dance Ensemble at the TSMU Culture Center and a member of the Quintet Urmuli.
