The Drama Theater “Hygia” at TSMU Culture Center

On December 29, 2001, at the initiative of TSMU graduate Natia Gujabidze, the Drama Theater "Hygia" was established.

During this period, the 19-year triumphant march of the Hygia Drama Theater, 19 premieres, is worth mentioning.

The performances "Six spinsters and One Man" (O. Ioseliani), "First They Died, Then They Were Killed" (R. Eristavi), "Island in the Black Sea" (D. Turashvili), "Chinchraka" (G. Nakhutsrishvili) were especially appreciated by the audience. "Exam" (R. Mamulashvili), "Summer Night Dream" (U. Shakespeare), "Wound" (L. Tabukashvili), "Keto and Kote" (A. Tsagareli), "Omobana" (B. Janikashvili), "Death in the Clouds" (A. Christie) and other plays.

These performances have brought great success to the national and international festivals of the Higgia Theater.

The Hygia Theater has toured Turkey, Sweden, Azerbaijan and Monaco with successful tours.

The play "Keto and Kote", presented by the theater in Monaco, won an honorable III place among 30 participating international theaters, which was undoubtedly a great recognition of the theater troupe and its director in the international arena.

In 2012 at the initiative of Natia Gujabidze, Theater Director, TSMU Associate Professor, the International Festival of Amateur Student Theaters - "The Mask" was established, which is held every year at the Medical University and is attended by students from both Georgian and foreign student theaters.

Hygia Theater won many nominations for this festival and was named the best student theater. Due to these successes, the Hygia Theater was awarded the honorary title of the „People's Theater“.

With the support of the TSMU Management and Culture Center, the theatrical troupe "Hygia" promises many more best performances to our students and countless fans.
