On 24 April, 2004 according the decision of Tbilisi State Medical University academic council the “Clinical Skills Central Laboratory” was established in TSMU to increase the clinical practice efficiency. Center was equipped by modern medical simulators and other learning technologies made by international corporation “3B Scientific”.
Since 2011 Clinical Skills Laboratory functions as Clinical Skills Center. From October of 2011 prof. Irma Manjavidze presiding the Clinical Skills Center.
Since 2012 Clinical Skills Center was additionally equipped by brand new simulators and manikins.
Since 2011-2012 academic year Clinical Skills Center is involved in TSMU main educational programs.
TSMU students and residents gain unique possibility to get practice in different clinical branches, like: Resuscitation and Emergency, Newborn Resuscitation and Pediatrics Patient’s Care, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Otology, Ultrasound investigations, Heart and Lung Auscultation and Data Interpretation, ECG with interpretation, Adult Patient Care.
Clinical Skills Center is equipped with modern medical educational technologies, such as “Gaumard”, “Nasco Life/Form”, “Limb and Things”, “Laerdal” and “3B Scientific” produced advanced medical simulators and manikins; modern computer and high technology educational gears; audio-visual technique; laptops and Wi-Fi systems.
In various periods in the Center worked and have been still working : Nana Jikidze, George Kvitsinadze (resuscitators), Khatuna Lomauri, Mzia Tsiklauri, Eka Kipiani (pediatrists), Dali Chitaishvili, Eka Shvelashvili, Nato Metskhvarishvili(gynecologists), Elene Mirziashvili, Tinatin Kilasonia (ophthalmologists), Lia Lomidze, Irina Kekelidze, George Bolkvadze (otolaryngologists), Pirdara Nozadze, Inga Kakhniashvili, Medea Jgharkava(Internal Medicine), Lela Baindurashvili, Nino Batiashvili(radiologists), George Miqaberidze (surgeon), Manana Mamamtavrishvili (laboratory assistant), George Zazadze (technical assistant) and others .
Since 2012-2013 academic year the Clinical Skills Center is hosting 2nd, 4th and 6th year students
(Georgian and English Medium Courses), also students from the Department of Nursing and Midwifery Education, and Second year students from Faculty of Pharmacy in First aid and BLS.
The 2nd year students are having the lectures according to “learning by teaching” method, that 6th year students will guide their junior colleagues to learn different clinical skills for improve students’ enrolment in the learning process.
According to decision of Academic Board of Tbilisi State Medical in 2014 was formed Clinical skills department in order to design curricullum that meet branch characteristics, national qualifications frame-works and at the same time considering importance of gaining practical skills using simulation based study .
OSCE state Exam in Obstetrics and Gynecology has implemented since 2013 For IV year students Faculty of medicine in TSMU.
Clinical Skills Center have programs for Postgraduate Medical Education: Accredited courses CME for DOCTORS , Accredited courses for NURSES, Accredited courses for non medical professions. Programs approved by professional council of TSMU and Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia.
TSMU Clinical Skills and Multidisciplinary Simulation Center is the member of Society in Europe for Simulation Applied in Medicine (SESAM)
By the decision of the Academic Board of Tbilisi State Medical University from April of 2018 the center has changed its name and was called “Clinical Skills and Multidisciplinary Simulation Center”
