Faculty of Pharmacy is one of the traditional and successful faculties of Tbilisi State Medical University. On the basis of long-term experience the faculty has developed teaching-learning experience, which priority is the student and his interests.
The faculty maintains highly qualified academic personnel and the best material-technical basis, all conditions are created for education of specialist with the corresponding competence. Undergraduate education in pharmacy is based on international standards and multilateral training. The learning process takes place at the teaching departments of Tbilisi State Medical University, at the scientific-research and practical skills laboratory and at Iovel Kutateladze Pharmacochemistry Institute, TSMU. Bachelor's, master's and doctorate students of the faculty undergo practical training in the health care institutions.
After completing the first stage of study, The Bachelor of Pharmacy within his/her scope of practice has an opportunity to work in the health care system, pharmaceutical companies, pharmaceutical manufacturing, pharmaceutical quality assurance and bureau of forensic services laboratories or continue study for a master's degree.
The faculty delivers 5 master programs: "Clinical Pharmacy","Industrial Pharmacy", "Pharmaceutical Cosmetology and Perfumery", "Pharmaceutical Analysis", "Pharmacy Management". Upon completion of Master Programs, graduates can work for the following institutions in accordance with their qualifications: Department of Pharmaceutical Activities of State Regulation Agency for Medical Activities of the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia; Medical-prophylactic and scientific-research Institutions; Bureau of Forensic Services and pharmaceutical quality control Laboratories, pharmaceutical manufacturing, represent pharmaceutical companies, or pursue doctoral study.
Pharmacy plays an important role in human health care. Pharmaceutical activities are patient oriented. Its main objective is to provide population with efficient, safe, quality and affordable medicines, which are developed, studied, manufactured, standardized, quality controlled, and state regulated mainly by the specialist of this field - pharmacist.
