From November, 2019 Postgraduate Medical Education and Continuous Professional Development Department of TSMU in frames of the agreement with the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia has been organizing Continuing Medical Education Program “Chronic Disease Management in Primary Care: New Evidence Based Recommendations” in five Georgian Regions: Adjara, Shida Kartli, Kvemo Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Samegrelo Zemo Svaneti. More than 600 doctors in 35 teams have to be retrained. The program is accredited by the Professional development Council. The program coordinator is Professor Givi Javashvili, TSMU Family Medicine Department. Assoc Prof. Nino Kiknadze, Invited Lecturers: Ketevan Rusia, Ketevan Khetsuriani, Natia Imerlishvili and Tamar Melikidze are also involved in the program. The program covers the modern principles of eight chronic disease management:

1. Arterial hypertension;

2. Chronic heart failure;

3. Ischemic heart disease;

4. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease;

5. Bronchial asthma;

6. Diabetes;

7. Parkinson's disease;

8. Epilepsy;

The curriculum is led by the national guidelines and new evidences published in recent years. 

One of the training was held on December 14-15, at the St. King Mirian and Queen Nana Mtskheta-Mtianeti Regional Medical Center for the doctors operating in the region. The training was conducted by Prof. Givi Javashvili and Assoc. Prof. Nino Kiknadze. The course was interactive and interesting for the audience.
