Professor Karaman Pagava, TSMU Department of Child and
Adolescent Medicine, Academician Tengiz Urushadze and Doctor of Geosciences,
Elina Bakradze published a monograph „Impact of Heavy Metals in Soil on Health
of Children and Adolescents (Example of Georgia) “in Germany. The impact of the
heavy metals in the soil on the development of congenital anomalies in infants was
discussed in the paper. In frames of the study, samples of heavy metals: Fe,
Mn, Pb, Zn, Cu in different soils were extracted and analyzed. According to the
research, a tight correlation between an increase level of manganese and lead
in the soil and increase anomalies in infants was asserted.
