April 25 is National DNA Day. Tbilisi State Medical University organized an art competition “Art Genome”. The event was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Human Genome Project’s completion and was organized by Tbilisi State Medical University Department of Molecular and Medical Genetics and the Georgian Society of Medical Genetics and Epigenetics. TSMU, Ilia State University and Georgian-American University (GAU) students took part in the competition.
The theme of the competition “Art Genome” was - From the Human Genome Project to CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing technology. 28 art works were presented at the event.
On April 25 the winners of the competition were announced:
1st place – Nino Izashvili (GAU) – “Unlocking the Genetic Mysteries: A Drawing Revelation “
2nd place – Mariam Mtchedlishvili (TSMU) “The Little Prince”
3rd place – Nino Kusiani (TSMU) - “Genome Apogee “
TSMU students: Data Kekutia, Beso Davitashvili and Apra Ryaz were awarded with certificates. The winning students will participate in lab works: CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing technology at the Department of Molecular and Medical Genetics of TSMU.
Before the competition Prof. Mario Ollero, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the Université Paris-Est Créteil Val de Marne delivered public lecture: Omics technology in Pathobiology studies, focusing on proteomics and lipidomics.
