On July 8, 2024 within the framework of the project - Role of Physical Rehabilitation in the Healthcare System, students’ presentations were organized at the Department of Physical Rehabilitation Policy and Strategic Management of Tbilisi State Medical University. The event was opened by Professor Archil Undilashvili, Head of the Department of Physical Rehabilitation Policy and Strategic Management. He stated that the course aims to broaden students’ understanding of rehabilitation and the existing services in the public health system.
“This field is in the process of development, and I am confident that this generation is the one that will further advance and push this area forward,” noted Professor Archil Undilashvili.
Traditionally, for the fourth time the 4th semester students of the Faculty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation presented group projects on various topics. The students discussed the importance of rehabilitation and its impact on medicine, healthcare, sports, economics, education, and environmental development. They reviewed regulations and challenges implemented in the country, as well as services and accessibility. Based on their research, the students presented the environment of people with disabilities in Georgia. They highlighted the effectiveness of the Ken Walker University Clinic for Medical Rehabilitation in providing access to rehabilitation services, emphasizing its implementation of modern, evidence-based approaches to medical rehabilitation.
Professor Irakli Natroshvili Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University thanked the students for their interesting presentations and discussed the importance of rehabilitation. He noted that proper management and rehabilitation are crucial for improving the quality of life for individuals with disabilities.
“The presentations were interesting and I want to thank you for your hard work. I am pleased that the immense importance of rehabilitation was clearly demonstrated in your presentations,” Professor Irakli Natroshvili noted.
The meeting was attended by Irina Inasaridze, Head of the organization “Anika,” and Keti Papava, USAID Civil Education Specialist. They positively assessed the students' work and emphasized the importance of conferences oriented on such vulnerable issues. The students were awarded with certificates at the end of the event.
“We aimed to highlight the advantages of the role of rehabilitation in various fields. We want to express our gratitude to Tbilisi State Medical University for this opportunity. We believe it is important for students to continuously seek information on various issues and deepen their knowledge. These are our first steps, which we hope will be successful for our professional development and our country,” the students noted.
