Professor Tinatin Tkemaladze, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Professor of the Department of Molecular and Medical Genetics participated in the 13th International Conference on Rare and Undiagnosed Diseases (UDNI2024) organized in Seoul. Professor Tinatin Tkemaladze presented an abstract and a poster presentation at the conference. Notably, the conference abstracts will be published in the journal RARE, issued by Elsevier.
As part of the event, a "Champions Meeting" was held, attended by the founders and members of UDNI. The meeting addressed the challenges related to diagnosing and treating rare diseases in low- and middle-income countries, as well as initiatives aimed at overcoming these challenges.
During the conference, plans for future collaboration were discussed with Professor Olaf Reis, Director of the Institute of Medical Genetics and Applied Genomics, University of Tubingen (Germany). Professor is leading the T2T sequencing project (Telomere-to-Telomere Sequencing). “Participation of Georgia in the project is planned, and we will actively work on the issue in the upcoming months," noted Professor Tinatin Tkemaladze.
Additionally, Professor Tinatin Tkemaladze met with representatives of the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®). They expressed interest in collaborating with Tbilisi State Medical University.
