Visit of TSMU academic staff to France

On November 12-13, 2024, a postgraduate education course "State of the Art Clinical Evidence for the Use of Phage Therapy in Clinical Practice: The Pathways for Efficacy" was held in Lyon, France. The event was organized by the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) in collaboration with the European Study Group for Non-Traditional Antibacterial Therapy (ESGNTA).

Professor Tamar Didbaridze, Head of the Department of Microbiology of TSMU and Assistant Professor Elene Pachkoria, Department of Infectious Diseases of TSMU participated in the event. Infectious disease specialists, clinical pharmacists, microbiologists from the United States, France, Belgium, Italy, Sweden, Israel, Poland, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany and the Netherlands participated in the course.

"We were introduced to Phase III clinical trials focusing on the use of phages in treating bacteremia, ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), implant-related infections, diabetic foot ulcers, and cystic fibrosis. Additionally, we actively participated in the discussion of clinical cases,” TSMU representatives noted.
