On June 1-4, 2024 Professor Tinatin Tkemaladze, Head of the Department of Molecular and Medical Genetics of Tbilisi State Medical University, Associate Professors Eka Kvaratskhelia and Nino Pirtskhelani participated in the conference organized by the (European Society of Human Genetics (ESHG) Berlin (Germany). The TSMU doctoral candidate Kakha Bregvadze and TSMU Faculty of Medicine students Sandro Surmava and Megi Lartsuliani were also invited to the European conference.
The members of the TSMU delegation presented poster presentations at the European Conference on Human Genetics. The patients' cases presented by them were reviewed by the world's leading geneticists. The morphological analysis was conducted using the global platform for rare diseases GestaltMatcher. Within the framework of the conference, Professor Tinatin Tkemaladze participated in a meeting of the board members of the European Society of Human Genetics. Among various other topics, the discussion included the future integration of Georgia into the European Reference Networks for rare diseases.
Associate Professor Eka Kvaratskhelia participated in the meeting of international human genetics societies as a representative of the Georgian Society of Medical Genetics and Epigenetics (GSMGE). She was also elected as a member of the ESHG Education Committee.
