Integrated OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) in pilot mode was organized at the Faculty of Stomatology

On June 25, 2022 an integrated OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) was organized at the Faculty of Stomatology for the first time. The innovative assessment method was used in pilot mode and had no effect on the students’ academic achievements.

The Department of Odontology was the initiator of developing the integrated OSCE in 2009. Since then all the departments of the faculty of Stomatology have been striving for preparing exam stations, developing evaluation criteria, training staff and working with standardized patients.

45 10th semester students were assessed by the contemporary assessment method. Apolon Urushadze Dental Clinic of Tbilisi State Medical University hosted the examination process. 17 stations were well equipped for the students to perform their practical-clinical and analytical thinking and communication skills.

The integrated OSCE was attended by Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria, TSMU Rector, Prof. Khatuna Todadze, TSMU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Irina Kvatchadze, Head of the Quality Assurance Department, Prof. Tinatin Chikovani, Head of the Department of Education Management, Assessment and Students Registration, Assoc. Prof. Nana Kipiani, Dean of the Faculty of Stomatology, Prof. Samson Mghebrishvili, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Stomatology and heads of the Faculty of Stomatology departments.
